Space Ship Fort
This project began as a cardboard box that I had intended to convert into a fort for my then two-year-old son. Me being me it somehow morphed into a space ship built as if it were a boat. It is designed to fit through doors with the wings removed. It can either stand vertically or be laid down flat. This was the funnest project I have done in years.
My First Sailboat Design
I designed and built this prototype almost 25 years ago. It is designed to lift up on foils and travel at great speeds. The prototype was heavier than expected and I ran out of money at the time. The future of sailing is here now and the fastest boats lift out of the water.
Kalakala Ferry Model
I built this model of the Kalakala ferry for my nephew Caleb the day before Christmas some years ago. Another very fun project.
42 ChrisCraft Restoration
This I a Chris Craft I purchased after it had been both crushed and then sunk. I rebuilt and re-powered it. I wish I had more before pictures. It is my coolest restoration to date.
A Chuck Box I Designed
A few years back a friend built a chuck box “a camping kitchen” in my shop for an annual elk hunting trip that he and others from around the United States attend every year. I liked the idea of the chuck box and with my background as a shipwright and my specialty of restoring vintage retro boats I thought I could do better. That winter I built my first chuck box adding my personnel creative flare to its design.
A Teak Storage Box I Built
This is a teak storage box that I built to fit behind the aft companionway stairs of a 34 Tolly Craft. I built it in the shop and then assembled and finished it on the boat. It is designed to be removable for access to the steering gear.
For this project I built a stainless retractable backsplash for the new stove I installed.
